Santorini is located in the Aegean Sea and belongs to the Cyclades Island Cluster, Greece. It is an island with many distinctive characteristics such as its mystical aura and unique color, the stunning Caldera, the renowned volcano, the unforgettable sunset, its beautiful beaches and its neoclassic and traditional architecture.
Firostefani and Fira, the capital of Santorini, are situated on the western side of the island. The Erato Apartment & Studio Hotel is located in Firostefani, in a serene and peaceful setting with a panoramic view of the volcano and the surrounding landscape and at close proximity to all the points of interest in the capital. Its location provides guests with easy access throughout the island. On this page you are provided with a map of Santorini, travel information about the settlement of Fira (Firostefani), Santorini beaches and Santorini sites, as well as distances of the Erato Hotel Apartments & Studios from transportation hubs, beaches and shops.
Santorini Sightseeing
There are many sites to see and things to do in the Fira and Firostefani area. Visit the Archaeological and Folklore Museums or the two main cathedrals of Fira (one orthodox – one catholic). Take a trip to the Venetian Castle Gizi or just walk through the region and admire the architectural style of the buildings.
A must during your stay is a visit to the ancient sites of Akrotiri and Ancient Thira, two of the most important antiquities in Greece. Both Akrotiri and Ancient Thira are whole settlements, with well-preserved structures that take you into the island’s ancient past. We recommend marking both sites on your map of Santorini and scheduling a visit to them in your island tour.
Santorini Beaches
Santorini is renowned for its unique beaches. While on the island, we suggest going to the the Red and White Beaches in Akrotiri and to the Black Beaches of Kamari, Monolithos Perissa and Perivolos. Small boats frequently depart from Fira, transporting you to the small islands opposite Santorini; the isles of Thirassia, Nea Kameni and Palea Kameni.
